Mr. Gilbert has over 25 years of executive-level experience
in plant management for multinational corporations. Founder
and principal of Bob Gilbert Consulting, he provides
collaborative consulting services that transform organizations
into lean, high-performance team-based systems. He
has consulted on issues of employee involvement and
empowerment focusing on managing change to high performance
work teams for Fortune 500 companies including Rohm
and Haas, Lipton, Hershey Chocolate, Quantum Chemical,
and Monsanto, as well as other organizations such
as the University of Houston-Clear Lake, College of
the Mainland, and International Executive Service
Corps.
Previously Mr. Gilbert served as president and manager
of the Bayport plant for Rohm and Haas Inc., a world
leader in polymer and antimicrobial technology for
consumer and industrial products. His achievements
at Rohm and Haas included implementing the high-performance
team management system that was the subject of several
articles by the American Management Association and
other publications, as well as a case study by the
American Productivity and Quality Center. Prior
to being appointed president and manager of the Bayport
plant in 1980, he held engineering positions of increasing
responsibility at the company's Philadelphia and Houston
locations.
A registered Professional Engineer, Mr. Gilbert has
taught management courses at the University of Houston
and Houston Community College and was an affiliated
research associate of the Texas Center for Productivity
and Quality of Work Life at Texas Tech University. He
has served as chairman of the Manufacturer's Committee
of the Houston Chamber of Commerce and chairman of
the Bayport Industrial Association, and also was a
board member of the Management Division of American
Institute of Chemical Engineers, Associated Chemical
Industries of Texas, and the Armand Bayou Nature Center. In
addition, he was a member of the Development and Advisory
Council of the University of Houston-Clear Lake and
the Advisory Committee of the Management Assistance
Program of the United Way of Houston.
