A. Dyer
Mr. Dyer has 25 years of operations, materials, and
general manager-level experience (with profit and
loss responsibility) in diverse industries including
electronics, defense, aircraft manufacturing, and
commercial entertainment. He is proficient
in business development and all facets of management,
with a strong history of achieving rapid improvements
and dynamic turnarounds in sales, profits, and operational
efficiency.
As president of Excalibur Aerospace (a multi-plant
flight simulation and training systems design and
manufacturing firm in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Houston,
Texas), Mr. Dyer expanded the firm’s customer
base into homeland defense and government markets. In
addition, he re-engineered the company and prepared
for the sale of all assets and intellectual property.
At Southern Stretch Forming Aerospace of Denton, Texas
(a producer of components for airplane manufacturers),
Mr. Dyer was hired as a consultant but soon was asked
to take on the role of executive vice president to
run the company in preparation for its sale. Under
his leadership, sales increased to over $5M, the company
was sold and moved to Wichita and St. Louis, and new
customers (Gulfstream, Cessna, and Eclipse) were acquired.
Mr. Dyer served as vice president of procurement and
programs at Galaxy Aerospace in Fort Worth, Texas,
a startup firm in engaged in executive aircraft design,
certification, manufacturing, and sales. He
set up manufacturing and repair station operations
and established a comprehensive product support organization
while maintaining full FAA compliance. His
achievements included developing strategic alliances
with major suppliers and negotiating domestic and
international contracts that yielded a 15 to 25 percent
savings over competitors’ costs. He
was instrumental in achieving growth to $600M sales
in three years while meeting cost and profit targets.
Previously Mr. Dyer was employed by On Command / SpectraVision
(a manufacturer and installer of pay-per-view entertainment
systems), where he served as vice president and general
manager at the Dallas location and vice president
of operations at the San Jose site. He
developed a complex satellite media broadcast system
(lowering costs by over 30 percent), led a bankruptcy
turnaround that resulted in a profitable merger for
a new $400M enterprise, and consolidated operations
from Dallas to San Jose while reducing the 400-person
staff by 50 percent.
While employed as vice president of operations for
Learjet, Mr. Dyer concurrently served as corporate
vice president for development and FAA certification
of the Model 60 aircraft program ($200M), which was
completed on schedule and within budget. He
negotiated major contracts of over $500M with the
vendor purchase of several new aircraft, formed strategic
supplier partnerships, and negotiated multi-year contracts
of more than $1B for the Model 45 program while meeting
or exceeding all cost targets.
Mr. Dyer’s previous positions include vice president
and general manager for Tracor Aerospace.
