Headquartered
in beautiful San Antonio, Texas, M2 Global Technology,
Ltd., a premier worldwide supplier of microwave components
and contract manufacturing services, has been serving
the defense, telecommunications, and medical industries
for over 30 years. The company's products
are used in cellular and personal communication systems,
satellite up and down links, and line-of-sight communications,
radar, and broadcast equipment. The primary
markets served include commercial communications,
power amplifiers, satellite communications, satellite
segments, high-definition TV broadcast equipment,
and the Department of Defense.
M2 Global specializes in applying advanced ferrite
technologies to provide high-performance radio frequency
(RF) microwave components in standard and custom configurations
for coaxial, wave-guide, and drop-in circulators and
isolators. In addition, the company designs
and manufactures diplexers, filters, wave-guide assemblies,
and machined housings. M2 Global also manufactures
a wide variety of products as a value-added contract
manufacturing supplier specializing in prototyping,
quick-turn service through full-rate production requirements.
Prior to its spin-off as a separate company in 1999,
M2 Global Technology was part of Harris Corporation
Microwave Communications Division (MCD), formerly
Farinon Division. Harris MCD was a worldwide
supplier on complex point-to-point microwave communication
systems.
The ferrite operation was founded in the early 1950s
as Webb Ferrites by Bob Webb, an engineer and designer. In
1977 he sold the business to Farinon Electric, a microwave
radio equipment manufacturer. Owner Bill
Farinon wanted better integration of the supply chain
for enhanced quality control and increased flexibility
for technology changes. Although the ferrite
operation was acquired primarily to serve Farinon
Electric, its management was given the freedom to
pursue growing the business independently, and began
working on outside sales almost immediately. New
ferrite designs were introduced, sales increased,
and by 1980, the outside sales exceeded inside sales. Since
that point, the RF component business unit has grown
to be one of the world’s foremost suppliers
of RF passive components.
In 1981, Harris Corporation purchased Farinon Electric
and created the Harris Farinon Division. As
part of Harris Farinon, the RF passive component business
unit continued to expand its global presence. In
September 1999, this business unit was sold to a group
of former Harris managers and engineers, who formed
M2 Global Inc. and a limited partnership M2 Global
Technology, Ltd.
M2 Global is veteran owned, ISO 9001 registered and
compliant with U.S. Government standard MIL-I-45208. Headquartered
in San Antonio, Texas, with sales offices around the
world and manufacturing operations in San Antonio
and northern Mexico, it is well positioned to service
its global markets.
